Brian Cummings is CEO of the Alta Innovation Institute. Brian has had a successful career in starting hundreds of technology based companies and is passionate about changing the way in which breakthrough technologies get commercialized. He is a Founder and/or CXO of a number breakthrough companies including Mu Therapeutics – developing a novel vaccines for addiction, Technium – a SAAS company that analyzes and aggregates Big Ideas, Tao – a medical device merchant bank, and Motive – an accelerator based on NISI principles. Brian has generated over $100 million in licensing and ventures revenue and was most recently Vice President of Technology Commercialization at Ohio State University and President of the Ohio State Innovation Foundation. In that role he transformed the office led the creation of over 20 new entrepreneurial based programs, tripled the number of start-ups, doubled the number of inventions and increased the portfolio valuation over 30 fold. Previously he was Executive Director of the Technology Commercialization Office at the University of Utah and Associate Vice President for Technology Ventures. Brian has set up multiple seed and venture capital funds and with his partner, Paul Ahlstrom, developed a unique seed funding model called KickStart to align early stage investors. Previously, Brian led the life science commercialization efforts at the University of Texas and structured one of their largest deals to date. Brian has served on multiple Boards including e-SENS Inc., Tao Ventures, Catheter Connections, The Rocky Mountain Research Center for Emerging Infectious Diseases, The Governor’s Board for Business Resource Centers, The Kickstart Seed Fund, The Renaissance Foundation, The Edison Institute, SciTech the LES Board for Technology Commercialization Structure and Development and Alta Innovation Institute.

Paul Ahlstrom is Chairman and founder of the Alta Innovation Institute. As an author, keynote speaker and early stage investor Paul has focused his efforts on supporting the creation of knowledge economy jobs in the Americas. Including Kickstart Seed Fund Alta Ventures, Alta Growth Capital and Northgate Mexico Paul has co-founded and raised multiple investment funds to provide capital to entrepreneurs at each stage of the investment cycle. Through his various funds Paul has directly participated in more than 100 venture capital investments including Ancestry.com, Altiris, Jott, VidAngel, Senforce, Rhomobile, CrimeReports.com, Aeroprise and Converus. Prior to his investing career Paul was the founder and CEO of Knowlix Inc., a venture backed startup he sold to in 1999 to Peregrine Systems which in turn sold to Hewlett Packard (NYSE: HPQ). Paul is a Founding Member of the BYU Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology and previously served on the executive committee and board for the University of Utah’s Technology Commercialization Office, and as a trustee for the Utah Technology Council and also served multiple years as a member of Motorola Corporation’s Visionary Research Board, (NYSE: MOT). Paul earned his B.A. in Communications from Brigham Young University and received an honorary doctorate from the Netanya Academic College in Netanya, Israel.
Jordan Greene is the Director of Alta Innovation Institute. He is an avid believer in entrepreneurship for developing economies and is an award winning writer in the areas of eliminating poverty through empowerment of entrepreneurs. He has also published research papers analyzing political economy and economic growth and has written on tax structures for fostering entrepreneurs in an emerging economy. He has started several small companies and believes deeply in the power of entrepreneurship for both people and nations. Jordan has worked for the US Commercial Service abroad aiding US companies and Spanish companies to form partnerships. He has also worked in Israel for an international business and arbitration law firm during the pursuit of his Juris Doctorate. Jordan has a BA in International Relations with a minor in IT security, a MS of International Affairs and Global Enterprise and will be completing a Juris Doctorate in spring 2020. His JD studies emphasized international trade law, corporate and business law. Jordan's passion for the mission and strategy of Alta Innovation Institute led him to join the team to help expand their capabilities and impact.
